Dentist Positions Available in Macon and Columbus, GA
NOTE: The Georgia Department of Public Health also has several openings for Dental Hygienists
Under limited supervision, the Dentist is responsible for oversight of dental patients. This position requires vision, systematic thinking and independent judgment. Areas of responsibilities will include time management, planning, implementation, and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the dental clinic. This will involve frequent interactions with the community, clients, provider staff, etc. The Dentist may directly supervise the other Dental Clinic staff.
Candidate must live within a reasonable commuting distance. This is a grant-funded position and is subject to available grant funds.
Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities
Performs dental preventative and restorative therapies.
Treats infections, diseases, and injuries of the mouth and teeth as appropriate.
Performs restorative work using ADA approved restorative materials.
Applies topical fluoride and dental sealants.
Provides consultation and referral as required/needed.
Perform extractions and other related oral surgical procedures.
Records procedures and services rendered in EMR system.
Conducts dental examinations and evaluations for oral pathology.
Reviews radiographs and/or photos of intraoral structures for the diagnosis of dental infection or related diseases.
Meets with staff members periodically review records and reports.
Communicates and works with local dental society members and dental specialists in the community to facilitate care for the indigent population as needed.
Attends educational courses, training and seminars to remain current in the dental field relating to the most recent practices and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate or professional degree in dentistry from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Dentist 2 (HCP131) or position equivalent and current Georgia license to practice dentistry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the terminology, principles and techniques of dentistry.
Skill in using dental instruments and equipment.
Skill in filling cavities, extracting teeth, performing dental restorative work and treating dental diseases, infections, injuries and malformations of the mouth and teeth.
