Position Summary
The Assistant Professor of Specialty Dental Medicine plays a vital role in supporting patient care, student clinical education, and daily clinic operations within the Lincoln Memorial University–College of Dental Medicine. This faculty member provides specialized clinical expertise (e.g., prosthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics), supports instruction in the predoctoral clinic, promotes compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and contributes to a high-quality, patient-centered care environment.
This position is essential in ensuring that LMU-CDM delivers exceptional learning experiences and maintains excellence in safety, efficiency, and service. The Assistant Professor serves as a trusted resource for students, clinical faculty, and staff.
Structure & Responsibilities
Provide clinical instruction in specialized areas of dentistry.
Supervise and mentor dental students in patient care delivery.
Support daily clinical operations and assist with faculty coverage as needed.
Ensure compliance with university, state, and accreditation standards.
Promote patient-centered, safe, and ethical care.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to support continuous improvement.
*Participate in service, scholarship, committee work, and faculty development.
Required Qualifications
DDS or DMD degree with specialization or advanced training in a dental specialty.
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a dental practice or academic environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of specialty dental procedures, instrumentation, and materials.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within an academic dental clinic.
Familiarity with EHR systems such as AxiUm.
BLS certification and awareness of emergency protocols.
Experience mentoring or training dental students or staff.
