Responsibilities
Provide gentle, comprehensive cleanings (prophy, SRP) with an emphasis on patient comfort and trust
Take time to build genuine relationships with patients and make them feel welcomed, heard, and cared for
Review medical histories, complete periodontal charting, and take radiographs with care and attention
Educate patients in a way that’s easy to understand, supportive, and never rushed
Collaborate closely with our doctor during exams and co-diagnosing to ensure patients receive consistent, high-quality care
Communicate treatment needs clearly while focusing on patient understanding and long-term health
Maintain detailed, accurate, and patient-centered clinical notes
Follow strict infection-control and sterilization protocols to keep our patients and team safe
Keep the hygiene operatory organized, clean, and ready for each patient
Help support a smooth, steady patient flow with kindness, communication, and teamwork
Participate in team huddles and contribute to the warm, family-like environment we provide
Treat every patient with patience, respect, and the kind of attention they would expect from a trusted private practice
Skills
Excellent communication skills — able to explain treatment, home care, and periodontal health in a friendly, supportive way
Strong periodontal knowledge including assessment, diagnosis support, and maintenance care
Gentle yet effective instrumentation with a focus on patient comfort
Confidence in patient education without overwhelming or pressuring patients
Ability to build rapport and create a positive, trusting experience for patients of all ages
Strong clinical judgment and ability to work collaboratively with the doctor on co-diagnosis
Accurate charting and detailed documentation
Solid radiographic skills (taking clear, diagnostic images comfortably and confidently)
Time-management skills — able to stay on schedule without making patients feel rushed
Adaptability to help support the flow of a small private office
Team-oriented mindset; willing to support front desk, assistants, and doctor when needed
Professionalism and compassion in all patient interactions
Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols
